Before we begin tonight's show, I have to extend my thanks to a long-time friend of the Twilight Zone podcast, Andrew Schneider, for stepping in and giving us that wonderful reading of when the valley was still on the last program.

I tend to like to read the stories myself these days because I enjoy doing it,

but while I don't think anyone really minds this British accent

narrating a United States set story, for the most part,

there's just something about a story set in the American Civil War that I

think needed an American voice to read it rather than me trying to muddle my way through

with the accents and Andrew kindly stepped forward to be that voice and I want to give

him my sincere thanks.

So the highly regarded Twilight Zone writer George Clayton Johnson

regarded that original story as surrealism

and an elegant piece of writing.

But will that elegant piece of writing translate to the screen that's going to be the

question this time on the Twilight Zone podcast now in the last episode before that

reading and Joe actually wrote in and he commented on how season three had had a

really great run in terms of quality.

Even the lesser episodes are still very good and some of the most famous Twilight Zone episodes of all time

have had their debut here in this season.

It's a good life, a game of pool,

the midnight sun, all classics,

and then we come to tonight's episode. And all of a sudden, Twilight Zone's most famous commentators go quiet.
