Celebrations could be heard all over the streets of Greece. The country's ruling conservatives

secured a resounding victory in this weekend's election. The margin of victory for the

centre-right new democracy party was unexpected and impressive. It wasn't quite enough to secure

an outright majority in Parliament. But Kira Cosminsertakis, the party leader, is still expected

to take charge after a second election next month.
