The good news of the gospel is only good news to those who hear it.

Philip the evangelist understood that. He did not keep the message to himself, but he went

wherever the spirit of God led him, and he preached Christ to those who needed to know.

In the work of the Lord, I'm convinced that one of the most neglected ministries is the ministry of helps. I'm convinced that so often we're

trying to do something ourselves, to get something done, to make something happen, when if we

would simply look for ways to help others in the work of the Lord, so much more could be accomplished.

There are some people who are humble enough and wise enough

to understand this, to be willing to simply find their place and do their part, and Philip was

one of those men. Look, you can't do everything, but you can do something. And you can't go everywhere,

but you're going to go somewhere. And you can't help everybody, but you can help somebody.

And I would say that Philip, this gospel Christian, who was indeed known as the evangelist,

was also a model of what it means to be a helper.

In fact, we found him that way first when he was one of the seven deacons.

Remember him waiting on tables and ministering to the widows?

I don't think he ever lost that spirit.

I believe the heart of the servant, the mind of Christ was Phillips all the way to the very

end.

And that's good.
