Summary
Stephanie Howe has been a top ultrarunner for a decade. She's achievedĀ great things in the sport including winning one of the world's most importantĀ races, the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run, which she did in 2014. While she's been on the top for a long time, Stephanie has also been through some tough challenges both in her personal and athletic life. Last year, 2019, was a particular tough year for her as she went through both a surgery and a divorce and all the psychological and emotional pain that came as a result. We talk a lot about what she learned from such a shitty year and how she feels she's emerged a better and strongerĀ version of herself. Stephanie recently announced that she's expecting a baby boy in 2021, so we also spend a lot of time discussing motherhood and how it will relate to her future as an athlete. This one is full of good vibes.

| 0:59.4 | accomplishments over the years. She's a teammate of mine at the North Face and a longtime friend |
| 1:05.4 | of Harmony and I, and through my friendship and relationship with her, I've known for a while that last year, |
| 1:14.9 | 2019 was a year from hell for her, as it was for me in many ways. She endured an injury |
| 1:23.5 | and a surgery to her Achilles tendon as well as a divorce in her personal life and all the |
| 1:30.4 | obvious psychological and emotional pain associated with those experiences. So we spend much of this |
| 1:38.6 | episode discussing how this really terrible year of her life impacted her and how she feels she's emerged from the |
| 1:47.8 | experience a stronger and more resilient version of herself. And I think honestly, you will all |
| 1:55.6 | really appreciate her openness in talking about this difficult and personal subject matter. |
| 2:04.4 | And then, you know, leaving the negativity of 2019 in the past, Stephanie also very recently |
| 2:12.5 | announced that she's pregnant expecting a baby boy in the coming months. And so we also spend a lot of time |
| 2:21.9 | here talking about motherhood and what she's looking forward to in this incredibly exciting |
| 2:26.7 | new chapter of her life. And just to be honest with all you, we don't really talk a lot about |
| 2:33.7 | running at least, at least |
| 2:35.0 | directly in this episode. |
| 2:38.0 | And while I'd love to eventually go deep with Stephanie on her amazing career at some point, |
| 2:44.1 | we both agreed that it would be more interesting and more valuable to you all to instead |
| 2:50.8 | focus this conversation on the real stuff, |
