0:48.4	Tell us what prompted you to write the book, to share so much of your struggle in a very public way?
0:57.2	Well, I was diagnosed in 2018 with complex PTSD.
1:01.6	And after I was diagnosed, I'm a journalist.
1:05.1	And so I really wanted to learn more about what this meant.
1:09.1	And so I started reading everything I could, which was not very
1:13.7	much at all. There was just no first person account of having complex PTSD. It was just mostly
1:23.8	really clinical, boring, often really pathologizing books and articles.
1:31.5	And so I decided that if I was going to heal from complex PTSD, I needed to write that
1:39.0	first person account because I, as a, you know, longtime producer for This American Life and Snap Judgment, I knew how important, how human a, you know, long time producer for this American life and Snap
1:44.9	Judgment, I knew how important, how humanizing that first person story is.
1:50.8	Now, you were diagnosed with complex PTSD that manifests as depression and anxiety.
