Stella is 5 and she has leukemia, but more important than that, she LOVES ANIMALS and wants to be a vet when she grows up! How can we surprise STELLA and make her day? With the help of Crisp Video Group, it's happening! When Stella was 4 years old, she suddenly went from a healthy and vibrant child to suddenly cranky, moody, and generally not herself. Within 6 weeks of her initial mood shift, Stella’s symptoms started to develop and come on very quickly. On May 25th, she had a bad fall in the grass and her reaction and crying were very extreme and out of character. The next day, her mom, Jennifer, got a call from the school, letting her know that they thought she needed to visit her pediatrician right away and warned her not to wait. Almost right away, she was diagnosed with leukemia. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: (ALL) is a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow — the spongy tissue inside bones where blood cells are made. Acute lymphocytic leukemia is the most common type of cancer in children, and treatments result in a good chance for a cure. By May 28th, she started chemotherapy. After a week, doctors made the decision to switch to a more aggressive cycle. Stella is currently undergoing treatment. When Crisp heard about Stella’s journey and her love of animals, they really wanted to make magic happen and give this kiddo an experience that she’ll never forget! Stella, her family, and 3 friends are getting the VIP treatment at Zoo Atlanta, and our friends at Crisp are sending a video crew to capture all of the magic! They'll get a dedicated Education Guide throughout the visit who can provide fun facts and info about the animals, get to do the Giant Panda Wild Encounter and go behind the scenes to meet and feed one of the pandas, meet one or more of the keepers, see the panda building, and learn more about pandas – it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience – go on a Veterinary Tour, meet one of the Zoo Atlanta veterinarians for a tour of our M.S. Silberman Diagnostic Center and a show-and-tell of some of the innovative equipment the Zoo’s vets use to care for the animals and even watch a goat get a hoof trim! After that, she'll get to meet an alpaca, have lunch at the Nourish Café and in addition to all that, in sticking in the theme of animals, the Fur Bus is going to pick you up in a stylish bus decked out in faux fur, to get you to Zoo Atlanta in style!
