This is CBS I in the world. I'm John Bachelor. I welcome Mary Kistel, Executive Vice President

Stephen's Incorporated, former senior advisor to the Secretary of State.

Mary is traveling, she's in California, to host and to moderate a panel at the

Nixon Library addressing conservative realism. We're going to come to examples of it right now because we're talking about

democracy and democracy in action that I repeatedly mentioned the Russian

wag who said the only thing wrong with democracy is it is

unpredictable and we're about to have several examples.

We begin with the EU.

The European Union vote begins on the 6th of June, continues to the 9th, voting for

some 700 delegates and that will influence the European Commission, the candidacy of Ms. van der Leyen. These are our allies, the

European Union. 27 states bonded together. Some of them use the euro, some do not.

But in any event, it is a major partner in the Ukraine conflict and the future

however these last weeks the theme in the EU has been that the rise of the right of

center parties fractional at home but rising in the EU

are dominating the conversation anti-EU parties, anti-NATO parties, anti-Ukraine war parties.
