South Korea President Yun

declares martial law,

slams domestic opponents.

This is Reuters reporting out of Seoul within hours. South Korean President Yun Sukyo on Tuesday, that was Tuesday, South Korea time, declared

martial law in a surprised late-night TV address, slamming domestic political opponents and sending shockwaves through

the country.

Ewan said opposition parties had taken the parliamentary process hostage. He vowed to eradicate

quote, shameless pro-North Korean anti-state forces, end quote, and said he had no choice but to

take the measure to safeguard constitutional

order. I welcome Mary Kissel, Executive Vice President Stevens, Inc., a veteran of the State

Department, former senior advisor to the Secretary of State, as well as spending many years

in Asia for the Wall Street Journal editorial page.

Mary, this is a surprise.

Ewan was elected happily and has met several times with the President of the United States,

East Asia and North Asia from the predators of Beijing and Moscow.
