What's up, Single Track Family? I am trying something new here.

For context, I am a marketer by trade and training, and it's common in our field to freely share best practices and tactics and strategies with peers on the internet.

The phrase we use is quote unquote working in public, and it is a style that I have always appreciated and one that I now

want to bring to this show. I'm sure you're wondering, you know, what's in it for me? Well,

maybe you've had an idea to go into business in the running world or the media world in some

capacity or just in general. And if that's the case, then this is essentially

a behind the scenes, totally transparent look at what we are working on, where we are succeeding,

where we're failing, what we want to try in the future, et cetera. And maybe by listening to some

of these conversations, you get ideas on how to start and succeed with your own venture.

To kick it off, I have the new creative director for single track, Mike Tamayo, on the show.

This will be the first of a regular series of what we are calling states of the single track, kind of like a state of the union sort of episode. And to get

you all familiar with our circumstances and to get to know Mike, we cover his background as a runner.

We talk about how we met and we specifically hone in on the influence that our running house here

in Salt Lake City had on our appreciation of community and doing

something like a podcast and sort of trying to go on this mission of leaving the sport better

than we found it. We talk about how this whole operation got started. We dive a little bit into

what's in store for the podcast and the newsletter and what Mike is going to be doing to

make this show really pop from like a design standpoint, social media standpoint.

So we talk a little bit about the studio setup for that because Grayson was one of our first

guest, sorry, she was our first guest to do an in-studio
