The opening chapters of the Bible are the seedbed for the truth found throughout the rest of Scripture.

As we study the first 11 chapters of Genesis, we will discover principles that can guide us as we seek to have a new beginning with God. Are you in need of a

spiritual reset? Good news. Our God is the God of new beginnings. Let's join Scott Pauley now.

Today we return one final time to this amazing principle given to us in Genesis chapter 2.

0:57.7

It says God rested. He rested from all his work and he blessed that day of rest. He sanctified that day of rest. Why did he do that?

1:04.6

He did that for man. Here is one of the great principles. If you're going to be effective in your work,

1:10.1

if you're going to be effective in your work for the Lord, if you're going to be effective in the duties that God is assigned to you and the

1:12.1

privileges and responsibilities that have been given to you, you're going to have to learn to

1:16.6

1:37.6

resting with the creator. Let that sink in just a minute. Adam gets created on the sixth day and the seventh day immediately was one full day of rest.

1:53.4

Would you hear me with your heart today, dear friend?

1:56.2

The God who created rest and the God who commanded rest is the God who calls you to himself to rest.

2:05.9

You see, our labor grows out of the rest, out of being with God, out of his presence, the

2:13.7

overflow of divine resources. That is so opposite the way we we function that is so

2:19.3

backward to the way our society and culture lives here's what we do we run until we hit a

2:25.1

wall we run till we drop we run until the well is dry and we've got nothing. God wants you to have regular rest.

2:36.8

And then out of that rest, he will give you the strength to run the race, to do the work,

2:42.9

to carry the water, to do what he wants you to do with your life.

2:47.7

You need regular periods of rest throughout your labor, and you need special seasons of rest

2:52.2

to prepare you for the labor that's to come. Oh, Lord, teach us to rest. Mrs. Lottie Kalman in
