Today Keir Starmer has moved his party’s position on a ceasefire in Gaza as he seeks to quell what could the biggest rebellion of his leadership. MPs will vote on an immediate ceasefire in Gaza with Labour set to add its own amendment to the SNP motion tomorrow. For the first time, Labour is calling for an ‘immediate humanitarian ceasefire’, but is this really such a big change in Labour's position?

Now Katie, I think the beginning of today is that Labour's

changed the position on Gaza and the ceasefire there.

Talk us through the changes that have happened today.

So this is all ahead of a vote tomorrow,

which is an SMP motion calling for an immediate ceasefire.

Now the last time there is a vote by the SMP on this,

on a very similar motion.

Kistammer suffered a big rebellion, 56 labor MPs rebelled, including eight front benches.

And I think there was a feeling that this time around the rebellion could be even larger and that's what the labor leader has been warned.

He met with the Shadow Cabinet today as tends to happen on Tuesdays and after that labor announced their position, which is they are adding an amendment

to the motion by the SMP.

And it's a pretty long amendment, but I think the first thing to note is they are calling

for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

Now this is the first time Labour has called for one.
