I hadn't actually thought that the person starting this bank would be me.

I'd done this world trip. I'd talked to all the companies. I knew it was possible to do this.

But I didn't realize, I didn't come to the conclusion that it could be me.

And the first time I said the words, I'm starting a bank, and the words came out, I shocked myself.

Yes, we have on the program this week, Anne Bowden. She is the founder and CEO of Starling Bank,

which is a startup bank in the UK valued at more than $3 billion with a B, or about $2.5 billion sterling in real money, as they would say.

Anyhow, it's an app-based banking startup, really interesting, not least because starting a bank

is really hard, especially if, as Anne was, starting out as a woman in her 50s and having

never started a company before in her life.

So let's just say that the fundraising alone was a challenge.

So I grabbed an hour to talk with her about her grand plans,

which includes kind of starting to try to sell the kind of platform, the banking app-based banking
