I'm just a little Jesse Little Del Bared and I am the Vice Chairwoman for the

Mashpeeanoke tribe and co-founder for the Wampano language Reclamation Project.

Well, thank you so much for joining us, Jesse.

I know that you all are really busy, but before we get into it, I was wondering if you could describe

the place you come from and the cultural and political and historical significance of the

Mashpee Wampanoag.

As far as I understand it, Wampanoag means people of the first light.

And I was wondering if you just maybe elaborate on the particular landscape that your people come from?

So we are as far just about as far east as you can get, well we are as far as far as far east as you can get.

Well, we are as far as east as you can get in Massachusetts

without being in the ocean.

We, I'm speaking to you from Cape Cod, but the Wampanog territory stretches from

current day Cape Anne near Gloucester Mass, southwest to a town called Dudley and near Grafton,

and it follows the Merrimack River all the way down to Nara Gansit Bay and everything

east of there.
