Romance about a man who cheats death in order to pursue a relationship with a woman he loves.

That movie surely had a significant influence on the new Pixar film, Soul, which is also

about a man who goes missing from heaven's ledgers because he's anxious to get back to his life

on Earth. Only in Soul, there's not much of a life to return to,

or at least there wasn't until the very day that Joe Gardner,

voiced by Jamie Fox, falls down an open manhole.

When he first meet Joe, he's dragging his way through another day

in the catacombs of the New York City public school system,

where he works as a middle school music teacher.
