So it's not too common if you're on the west coast of the United States,

but for a lot of other areas of the United States and even the world,

it can be a common pest, and it's a really interesting pest,

because what happens is the larva will actually burrow into the vines of zucchini or squash plants and then kill off the plant.

So obviously we don't want that to happen.

Okay, first of all, we need to know what they are.

The squash vine borer is typically going to be referred to as the larva

of the Clearwing moth. Now Now the moth itself doesn't really harm the plant, but like

many of these pests we talk about, the larva does. It burrows straight into the stem because squash and zucchini stems can be quite thick and it will

devour the soft tissues inside which will cause wilting. Eventually it's going to kill your plants.
