Summary

The darkness can often feel out of control, tempting us towards hopelessness and fear. Scripture assures us that God is powerful and his mercy is abundant, and even now the gospel is planting seeds of Christ’s kingdom in and through his people. So, where are these sprouts of the new creation? In this episode of White Horse Inn, hosts Michael Horton, Justin Holcomb, Bob Hiller, and Walter Strickland reflect on God’s work in their own lives, helping us see the age to come breaking in on this present evil age through the ministry of sinful human beings.

0:00.0	The Lord's supper is an eschatological meal.

0:05.3	He's saying, as often as you eat this bread now, so he's saying, now you're eating it,
0:09.9	you're proclaiming Lord's death back then until he comes again.
0:14.5	That's just shocking.
0:16.3	As a Baptist, you know, there's folks who do the supper once a year, twice a year,
0:21.2	quarterly, monthly, and then there's very fear that do it weekly.

0:26.3	It doesn't weekly.

0:28.3	But to continuously be reminded about this looking forward in the midst of the present
0:34.7	is such a good thing for us.
0:36.9	And so even being able to identify those sprouts of new creation as we go throughout
0:42.0	our week, I'm recalibrated to say, okay, there are sprouts of this new creation because
0:46.8	we're taking part in this sort of reality of sacrament.
0:50.9	When you hear the preaching of the Word and you hear the announcement that your sins
0:55.6	are forgiven, that you are redeemed in Christ Jesus, you're hearing what's giving you hope
1:02.3	about what's on the horizon.
1:03.5	But you're also hearing, in a sense, God's eternal Word of welcome and favor towards you
1:08.5	that for all of eternity, God is pleased with you.
1:13.0	You hear God's welcome to the table that you will be dining at for all of eternity.
1:18.0	Come, take and eat.
