Hello and welcome back to Sociology 101.

Recently, Dr. John McArthur from Grace to You Ministries there in California,

has been doing a series on spiritual blindness,

which I think has been very interesting to listen to from the different world perspectives with

satriology, because John MacArthur, obviously, as we know, is a Calvinist, and Calvinism

maintains under the T of Tulip, Total Depravity, that mankind is not just depraved, if that was all that

depravity meant, then we would be okay with it, but depravity on Calvinism doesn't mean that

one is just a sinner and under condemnation for their sin, but total depravity means that all

people from birth, by nature, are born with a moral incapacity to respond positively, even to

God's own appeals to be reconciled from their fallen condition,

which we don't find established anywhere in the Bible.

In other words, everyone is born someone who only can reject the offers of the gospel,

unless God unilaterally picked them before they were born

and gives them an irresistible grace,

an effectual calling, if you will, and only those can respond.

And therefore, everyone is born, in a sense, spiritually dead and therefore blind.

You know, obviously corpses are dead and corpses are blind.

And if you're born spiritually dead and spiritually blind, you're born

unable to see. And so as I think Richard Cordes pointed out in one of the Facebook posts,

he talks about the difference between a light problem and a sight problem. We all believe we

have a light problem. We need light. But the Calvinist apparently believe that we also have a lack of

sight. So even if the light shows up, it doesn't do any good because we have a lack of sight,
