I'm your host, Carrie Mielstein, and I'm so excited to have with me again today, my good friend and a wonderful scholar

and teacher, Dr. Jennifer Lane, who we were students together at BYU and then colleagues at

BYU, Hawaii, where she served in administration for a long time, and now she's at the

Neil A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship or Studies? I can't remember now.

Thank you. I'm delighted to be here. Love getting to talk about the scriptures together.

What else should we know about you, Jennifer?

I love studying the scriptures. I taught a

new testament for many, many years, and I love going back to these texts. It just brings

back a lot of memories of questions students had and trying to answer them, even though I'm

not teaching right now and what my research position is exciting, which is different. But it's really rewarding to see how the

gospel comes through with texts, even though sometimes they're a little complicated. We

have to spend time figuring out what's going on, that it's worth

the trouble to get through making sense of the context and textual issues in order to get to
