We were discussing Barry Levinson's 1998 adaptation of Michael Crichton's Fear, a film that Joe and I both, I think, were really intrigued to revisit because we had, I'm not going to say fond memories of this film, but we had memories of this film. We had memories, yes. We both know that this was not well received. It bombed at the box office. And so it was kind of like, oh, well, is it really that bad? And I'm not, I don't have an answer for you. You're sticking to your guns?

I, I mean, I think there are parts of this movie that really work. I think the concept is really cool, but something. There's just something wrong here. Yeah, something is wrong here. And honestly,

after a point, I think I start getting bored with it. Oh, 100%. Yeah, before we hit record,

I said that I wanted us to both try and identify the point at which we turn on this film. But yeah, I will agree. I'm also not, hmm, I'm not sure if this movie is helped by watching it in close proximity to Congo, which was our audio commentary from last month. And we didn't have great memories of that film,

but it wound up being just a bit of a fucking entertaining, but very stupid and very messy blast.

And I was hoping we were going to have the same experience here. This just isn't very fun.

Not at all. And I think, I mean, the only Michael Crichton books I have read are both of the Jurassic Park books. And so I don't, and this is like years ago, so I don't have a huge memory of them. But looking at the major 90s Crichton adaptation. So you got Jurassic Park in 93, Congo in 95, and this in 98. I think. Where is the Lost World in there? Oh, right. That is 98. No, it's 97. I think it's 98. Right. I think... Where is the lost world in there?

Oh, right.

That is 98. No, it's 97. I think it's 97. So, yeah, it's between Congo and Sphere. And so, okay, well, let's forget about that one for a second. But Jurassic Park, I think, you know, because from what I gather from Michael Crichton, It's kind of like a combination of like really like prestige thinking man's sci-fi with like kind of B-movie schlott.

And usually creature feature stuff put into it, at least with these three properties.
