Today we're talking a little bit about Reformation 500 years ago and today.

This is the Reformation edition of the Sheprooves Faithful podcast every year. I think for the past

four years, maybe five. Now, I have done a special episode on the Reformation. Usually I talk

specifically about a reformer or something historical. And I'm just going to touch on a few of those

things today because I got really excited last week when Allie Stuckey was on the

podcast, she said, gone are the days of cultural Christianity. And I thought, paired with the

podcast a couple weeks ago about Reformation versus Revolution, today was just a really good

opportunity to remember what the reformers did and what they stood for and to realize

that we're in the midst of reformation today, that we can be a part of reform, of returning to

the authority of scripture, returning to Christ being the only way of salvation that Christians

live for him and under his lordship and for his glory, and that the kingdom of God is advancing,

and to want to be a part of that and to stand up for the truth of the gospel so that people might know Jesus and be saved from their sins,

because there's no other way. So I wanted to touch on that today, and hopefully encourage us that God's mighty hand is at work

and it will spur us on in our own time and history.

So really quick, what is the Reformation?

Well, this is a time in history, really in the 1500s, where there was a reform.

There was a lot of corruption going on in the Roman Catholic Church,

and there needed to be reform in it because the scriptures were not in people's languages.
