This is John Batchett, a conversation with George Friedman of geopolitical futures, speculating

about what happens after Russia concedes or surrenders or recognizes that it is lost

in Ukraine and it comes to negotiations.

George asking, how do you negotiate with a bitter and losing side with nuclear weapons?

Are there weapons that will constantly be wielded at the negotiating table?

Here's George.

Well, what happens in war is that as you break down your psychological and other forces

to take place and you start thinking, how could I win?

How could I have revenge?

No nuclear weapons since Japan have been used.

But these are people who have been committed to this, not just this war, the Russia, and

they're losing.

They cannot believe they're losing and they're creating conspiracy theories of why they're

losing because it can't be because they're incompetent.

It's in this hot house that you worry about the fact that this is a country with a nuclear

capability.

If they're going to be in negotiations, they're certainly going to have to make sure

they already think about this so that they don't push them too hard.

You push on this and you push on this and something can happen.

So I have no prediction that it's going to happen, but it worries me because the tensions

are so high.
