Summary

Can the second book of the Bible, Exodus, serve as inspiration for those of us feeling like slaves to current day tyrants? We need not itemize our current plagues, as they are now part of daily life. Exodus describes how the People of Israel were freed from the bonds of centuries of slavery in Egypt. Moses was commissioned by God, who spoke to him in the form of the burning bush and gave him the colossal assignment to lead the Israelites to freedom. Repeatedly in Exodus, we witness Moses imploring Pharaoh, "Let my people go."  During this show, Mike Slater and his special guests explore how the story of Exodus can serve as inspiration for those of us feeling like slaves to tyrants.  Mike Slater and his special guests explore the question...can God lead us to freedom again? We pray history will repeat itself and that He will show us the way to free ourselves from the bonds of modern-day servitude. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hey, it's Politics by Faith. I'm Mike Slater. Thanks for Peter. We have a special episode for you today.

0:13.3

Last February, we recorded on the TV show a special about the book of Exodus. We actually did

0:20.8

five specials, one of each book of the Torah,

0:24.3

the first five books of the Bible. So I want to give you Exodus. This is a great one. It has the

0:29.5

Ten Commandments in it. Pretty important. So we go over them all. So here's how the special goes.

0:35.9

The first segment, we talk about the first four commandments. Those are the ones between you and God. Then we talk with the great Dennis Prager, who has wonderful study Bibles, I guess, of I think he's got Genesis, Exodus, and Deuteronomy. Except he did Exodus first because of the Ten Commandments. But they're great. You should definitely buy those. So we talk with Dennis Prager, and then we talk with our good friend Tom Askell from the Founders Ministry. He's fantastic. And then we finish up and we talk about the last six commandments, which are between you and other people. So this is a very nice overview on the importance and relevance of the book of Exodus.

1:11.8

That's the purpose of doing these specials on the Torah, is this really, really old book

1:16.6

is very relevant, supremely, the most relevant thing, to you, your life, your family, this country,

1:24.1

and especially Exodus, and the relevancy of Exodus to this country because our founders

1:27.7

believe that America was the second great Exodus from tyranny to freedom. It's a beautiful

1:34.7

thing. So enjoy our special on Exodus. Hey, Slyder Crusaders, America's the greatest country in the world.

1:40.0

Thanks so much for being here. And today's special, we're going to talk about Exodus. The point of this special is to help us understand the relevancy of this really, really old book. When I was an atheist, I would be like, oh, who cares? I was a long time ago. There's no relevancy of that to my life today. And how foolish I was. And hopefully, pique your curiosity enough to go read it for maybe the first time or read it again. You'll always gain more insight. We have the great Dennis Prager coming up in the next segment and then the wonderful Tom Eskel from Founders Ministry to give us even more insight. And this opening segment, I wanna introduce some of the 10 Command, it's, oh, we gotta go fast. So we're just to be pretty surface here, right? But I do want to make the point that it's not, I don't think this is the

2:22.6

pivot point, but it's certainly a pivot point in the downfall of our country and our society

2:28.0

was when the Ten Commandments were removed from schools. Now, listen, don't laugh it off. I know this

2:33.5

wasn't like the one moment,

2:35.0

and surely society was led astray

2:39.0

well before the removal of them, right?

2:42.0

Otherwise, no one would have ever thought to remove them, right?

2:45.0

But if kids these days knew the Ten Commandments,

2:50.0

we'd be in a totally different place today. I truly believe that.

2:54.1

The first one is all you really need. You shall have no other gods before me. As Steve DeWitt

3:02.0

says, if you get that one right, you don't even need the rest. Unfortunately, we don't get that one right, so we need all
