I am joined by a friend of the show, Mark Ames from Radio War Nerd.

We're not here to do an episode, but we're here to talk to you guys about

John Dolan's new book. They should have been hanged, War Nerd Essays on the U.S. Civil

War. I love that title. They should have been hanged because they should have. And basically,

we want to sell a few of these books. We want to get you guys to go out there and buy them. So, Mark, thanks for coming on the program. Oh, thank you, Derek. Thanks for having me on. And I know John really appreciates it, too. So, yeah, thanks. So maybe we should start there. I know there are a lot of listeners of our show who also listen to Radio

Warner. How's John doing? How are things going? Yeah, good news. John is on the mend.

I mean, so he had a bad fall about now it would be about two months ago in southern Italy and was in the hospital for a bit, had a

nightmarish experience there, got out, and actually did a couple of shows, but in the meantime

sort of had a relapse from that fall. It was an insane fall. I mean, he showed photographs of what the bump on

his head, and this wasn't a bump. I mean, it looked, it was the size of my fist. And so he, you know,

he had a real serious head injury, had to go back to the hospital, spent, you know, two weeks there. And, um, and it actually was looking a little

bit scary for a while. Now I think we can say, I think it's still going to be like, I would

guess at least two, three months before John's going to be able to come back and do

full on podcast,

like full-on podcasting a show.

But even just the difference talking to him today,

I just talked to him this morning.

And like a few days ago,

I can really see a pretty rapid recovery.

But it's still very scary, you know, he's, I mean, he's like learning things
