I like to on Father's Day share some great quotes that I've compiled over the years,

and I want to start with this one from Mark Twain, who so humorously quipped.

When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant. I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got

to be 21, I was astonished at how much he had learned in seven years. Along that same line of thinking, Margaret Truman said, it's only when you grow up and step

back from him or leave him for your own home. It's only then that you can measure his greatness

and fully appreciate it.

Billy Graham is quoted as saying,

A good father is one of the most unsung, unpraised, unnoticed,

and yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.

It's this last one that I think says it all, so apropos.

The story is told of how one-nighty father had happened upon his son praying and overheard his prayer which went like this.

Dear God, make me the kind of man my daddy is.

Later that night the father prayed,

Dear God, make me the kind of man my son thinks I am.

The prophet Malachai in the first part of verse 6 of chapter 4 writes, he will turn

the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.

Proverbs 23, verse 24 says, the father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

At this time I'd like to have the father stand and we want to take this opportunity to honor you,

to pray for you, and to bless you.

So why don't you please stand so we can do that.

First of all, before we pray, let me just lastly say that the hardest job

is to be a father. I have started and operated and sold businesses over the years.
