Summary

EP827: On Sept 10th, 2025, conservative creator and activist Charlie Kirk was killed in Utah by a single gunshot. The news spread quickly and found Bryan while he worked in the studio. Minutes later a scheduled interview with CEO , media personality and noted entrepreneur, Gary Vee was set to take place. Bryan and Gary shocked by the senseless violence, debate whether to continue with the conversation. But they decide to hit record and talk through the unfolding events together. It's not the interview that was planned, but maybe the one that was needed. Note: Krissy was not present for this conversation but will be back tomorrow. Charlie Kirk was born in 1993 and passed away yesterday, September 10th, 2025, when he was shot during an open-air event at a college in Utah.

0:12.9

Charlie was a right-wing political activist. He was an author, and he was a media personality.

0:17.3

He co-founded the conservative organization Turning Point USA, and if you've paid any attention

0:23.6

to politics over the last 10 years, then you will know that Charlie had an outsized influence

0:28.4

on young conservative minds. I was not a fan of Charlie's work. I did not agree with most

0:34.5

of Charlie's politics, and I probably would not have been attending yesterday's

0:38.6

event for any reason. But he was a fellow podcaster and creator, and on an occasion or two,

0:43.6

I actually happened to be in the same room with him for that reason. We were creators.

0:48.2

Charlie was a human being. He was a dad. He had a young son and daughter. He had a wife that he had

been married to for just a few years,

0:55.4

I believe. I was sitting in the studio doing some work with the news on in the background. When the

1:00.6

story broke that Charlie had been shot, I quickly turned to social media, as most of us do, and I can

1:06.0

never unsee what I saw when I viewed an actual video of the incident. It physically made me ill. I've never

1:12.5

experienced uncontrollable shaking I did yesterday, not only because it is shocking to watch that

1:18.2

happen to a human being, but because as a father, it is easy to let your mind drift to all the recent

1:23.4

school shootings and to make comparisons between how an adult body reacts to a gunshot

1:28.4

and a child's body might. I am sickened, like most people, at the level of violence in this

1:34.2

country and around the world. I suppose universally and energetically, it's just where we're at.

1:40.4

The answers aren't easy, and I don't have any of them. I'm a comedy podcaster. But sometimes

1:45.7

the universe puts you in a place to have a conversation that makes you feel just a little bit

1:51.5

more optimistic about the world. It just so happens that lifelong entrepreneur, CEO, and media

1:58.8

personality, Gary V. was scheduled to be our guest. Just an hour after this news
