This is the chapter on the fear of rejection and how we can overcome it.

In my third semester at the University of Tennessee, I signed up for an almost full schedule,

but discovered I needed one more hour to be considered a full-time student. Now, nobody would

have ever considered me a star student. So instead of taking another challenging class,

I went for an easy credit hour. I chose bowling. Now, I had never bowled before, but bowling would

bump me up to full-time status, and I thought it would be a fun way to meet new people because

it's a huge campus. Now, on the first day of bowling class, my first opportunity to get to know my new

classmates, I chose a cute

baby doll dress. Now, baby doll dresses with strappy flats were really popular in the 90s.

Bless us all. So I walked in to the bowling alley on campus and I knew I was in trouble.
