Summary

Just before 1AM on the 14th June 2017, a fire broke out in the apartments which quickly spread trapping many of the residents. It is believed at this time, although not confirmed, that the fire started in a 4th floor apartment, when a fridge caught fire.

Gremfield Tower is located in North Kensington, West London in the poor part of

town that is quite affluent areas close by.

The 24-story tower was designed in 1967, with Kensington and Chelsea Council approving its construction in 1970 as part of phase

one of the Lancaster West Development Project.

Construction started in 1972 with the building completed in 1974.

It was built as council housing.

The building contained 120 one 1 and 2 bedroom flats, 6 apartments per floor on 20 of the 24 stories,
