I'm out here listening to the rain and took a peek at my inbox and every five minutes there's a new Black Friday ad with glitter and glam and bright lights and bright colors,

convincing me of the next thing that I need, the next thing that's going to make me happy,

the next thing that's going to make me feel fulfilled and whole and content.

And it's all just a giant distraction from what really matters in life. And

the digital world is ramping up exponentially. I mean even since 2008, 2009, you know,

you're talking 15 short years ago. the world is totally transformed.

And this technological world has almost infected us like a virus.

And at first it was the young teenagers and the 20-somethings.

It quickly spread into the 30s and 40s and for a while

the people 50 and up, they were safe from it and they were immune and maybe even disinterested

or scared of it.

And they'll say things like,

the internet is the devil.

And so for a while, that group 50 and up,

they stayed away from it.

And now too, even those people have got infected with the smartphone virus.

You know, I was at the beach a couple of weeks ago,

and I saw a couple of guy who was maybe 75 or so.

And just a few short years ago, that age group would have had zero interest,

and you would have not seen them

with a smartphone. Maybe they would have a flip phone like my grandmother. I mean, she's totally

anti-smart phone. She loves her flip phone, but then when she switched carriers, the new carrier
