Hi, everyone. This is John Haggador with 1001 Stories Network. I have a special announcement for all of you as we head into 2025.

0:08.5

But first, thanks to each and every one of you for giving me our best year ever here at 1001 Stories Network.

0:15.1

That goes to all you listeners, my podcast family from 160 countries, our Patreon supporters, the hardworking lips and sales team and host crew without whose expertise and hosting power our shows would not be possible.

0:28.2

And lastly, the advertisers who support us.

0:31.6

Throughout these 10 years, you and I have discovered a lot of untold stories as we uncovered gems in literature and history.

0:38.5

And I have found a story which I doubt most of you are aware of. It's called My Hawaii by Charmaine

0:44.8

London. Jack London and his wife Charmaine traveled much of the Pacific for a few years aboard his

0:50.9

sloop to snark, and the decided jewel of all their travels was Hawaii.

0:55.7

So much so that they tossed anchor there and finally stayed from the winter of 1915 through

1:00.5

mid-1916, falling in love with the land and its people and getting a true understanding of them

1:06.0

and their history. They shared their story in a book which I only recently found called

1:11.4

Our Hawaii. Jack starts the story with a couple of chapters introducing you to Hawaiian history.

1:17.0

But it will be Charmaine's diary and reflections that really make the story. You'll be amazed

1:22.3

at what you find out about Hawaii, I promise. Jack had made two trips there prior to his

1:27.2

1915 voyage with Charmaine.

1:30.1

1916 was to be the last year of his life, and he wanted to spend it with Charmaine in the place

1:35.0

he loved the most with the person he loved the most. It's quite a story, and I'm sharing it now

1:40.2

at 1001 Best of Jack London, and I'll leave links in the show notes for you.

1:45.5

Don't miss My Hawaii by Charmaine London.

1:49.6

Aloha.
