Learn Persian with Chying Conversation, I'm joined today with our D-Gy. Salombehamy and welcome to Lesson 63 of Learn Persian with Trying Conversation.

0:40.0

I'm joined today with our dear guest, Vijay.

0:43.3

Salam, Vijay.

0:44.4

Salam, Leila.

0:46.0

How do you do?

0:47.2

Good, thank you.

0:48.7

Thank you.

0:49.9

So as you heard in the last couple episodes, VJ is joining us for this unit to listen to different dialogues that take place in the Persian language.

0:59.2

So before we get started, Vijay, could you tell us a little bit about the dialogue we're listening to today?

1:03.9

Sure. So this dialogue is just two people who are meeting up after a long time.

1:08.5

They're friends who haven't seen each other for a while,

1:11.0

and they want to catch up with just what's been going on since the last time they met.

1:17.3

Okay, perfect. Then let's listen to the full thing together. It's a little bit longer than the

1:21.7

ones that we had the past couple of times. So let's listen. It's about 30 seconds long. Let's listen to

1:26.2

the whole thing. And as always, we'll go through it bit by bit, piece by piece and talk about what we've listened to. Here we go. Bah, Salam, Farzine, how do you? Salon, be on your mahed. Bad noth. I'm not. Hush me givide. You know, no. Why don't you? A few modet has, maschol months of my work. Really? What? What? Beatt mostle of you. To address for you. Sure of the telephone of the number of the before, I'll do you with you, I'm, so I'm in the time. Now, well, myshin'all. I'm doing. I'm doing you. Go, all right so that was really good. Any first impressions? Anything you want to point out, Vijay?

2:07.4

I think just like towards the end is probably the most challenging part for, you know, people who are learning Persian.

2:14.7

Because, you know, there's a whole bunch of things that he's saying that he'll do in order to get in touch with this other lady. So, with Sada.

2:23.6

Yes. And also, I notice it's a lot faster than the ones that we've listened to before.

2:27.9

So I'm actually going to play it a little bit slower again one more time so we can listen to

2:32.2

it at 0.75X speed. And there's also a lot of Tadouf that's happening in this conversation. So it's two people meeting up. And then a lot of Tadouf is happening in the beginning. So I'm excited to talk about that. Yeah, that's right. We have a little bit of, you know, we'll be getting into more Tadov in the later lesson. So this is kind of like a little teaser for now. Okay, good, good. And it's something that when you're speaking in Persian, like you have to know these. This is, you know, you send a lot of time Tadoffing in conversation. You don't just get to the point. A lot of the things that I like about Tardof is that it's a lot like what we have here in Texas, VJ and I both live in Texas, where we don't just get to the point. We really skirt around issues. You know, you go to the cashier, they first ask, how are you doing? How's your weekend going? What are you up to later? And you don't even know this person. It's the same Iranian culture in the Persian language.

3:25.1

There are all these phrases that even if people are strangers, you just have to know to use

3:29.7

with people. And it's the same here where these are two friends and they have to use these
