This morning, we've had a hilarious story from Italy about a row between Matteo Salvini and his deputy,

and it has something to do with But Spencer and Meryl Streep. Jack, tell us about this.

Yeah, so the kind of background in the context to the Rau is that for a while, there have

been some differences between Salvinie and his deputy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, kind of political

differences and differences in approach, right? George Etty, I'd say, putting it simply as a more

moderate figure than Salvini, and he's more kind of tied to Lagas, more kind of traditional

northern bourgeois conservative base. But in an interview earlier this week, Georgeetti outlined

some maybe differences in opinion between him and Salvini. And the way that he put it when it came

to Salvini's leadership style was that while Salvini seemed to prefer to play the lead in a

spaghetti western, Georgette preferred a supporting role in an Oscar-worthy drama. And this followed

with Georgetti comparing himself to Merrill Streep, but saying that he couldn't be in the same film as Bud Spencer.

These are dangerous, dangerous comparison because, you know, I mean, Salvini, you know, he may look like But Spencer, but Giorgetti for sure doesn't look like Meryl Streep.

And in any case, you know, do we think this will help him in any way?

I mean, there is a, you know, we've discussed before we went on air, we discussed the

history of the Lega, and it's not a fundamentally anti-European party, as people nowadays

seem to think.

It is a, you know, it is a northern Italian party, deeply rooted in

the business community of the north, supported by people who don't like subsidies to the south.

That was the root of the discontent that gave rise to this party.

So where does this party, where's this party today under this sort of dual and clearly

conflicting? What this conflict in the leadership actually tells us about the party?
