is nothing to do with reality, or is it? I'm Chris Bulby, and in this documentary,

part of the BBC World Service Space Week, I'm going in search of the real Space Wars, the new final frontier of today's military activity.

The idea of relying on space and even fighting in space was once science fiction and now it's real.

The force, it's calling to you.

The kind of potential space wars I'm investigating may not involve intergalactic empires or

spacecraft zapping each other, but this really does matter to all of us because possible conflict is focused on so-called

space assets, satellites, more and more crucial to the way we all lead our lives.

Do you know, if they all stop working suddenly satellites

how much do you think it would affect your life? Say 50%? What sort of things?

Phone, being able to contact people.

If I told you that it would affect cash machines, traffic lights, power systems, power

cuts.

Maybe 90% then, because I drive and need money. For me, I'd drive and need money.

For me, I'd be really fine with it.

I would love it if it stops,

because then people will spend more time

of talking to people instead of tweeting or Facebook game.

But if the cash machine stopped working, the traffic lights stopped working,

the power cuts.
