Isaiah chapter 51 verses 12 and 13.

I, I am he who comforts you.

Who are you? That you are... I am he who comforts you.

Who are you that you are afraid of man who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass, and

have forgotten the Lord, your maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the

foundations of the earth, and you fear continually all the day because of the wrath of the oppressor when he sets himself

to destroy?

Do you hear what God is saying to his people in Isaiah 51. He's asking them, why are you afraid of what people can do to you?

And when you think about it, there's a lot of reasons to be afraid of what people

can do to you. People can hurt you in all kinds of different ways, from all kinds of different angles, people can

harm your reputation.

People can make life really hard for you.

People can kill you.

Like people can do a lot of things when you think about it to cause you to be afraid but God is

saying don't forget they're just people you You've forgotten. That's the language he uses in Isaiah 5113.

You've forgotten the Lord, your maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth.

God's saying they're just people.

This is very similar to what Jesus says to his disciples in Matthew 10.

He says, don't fear the one who can kill your body. Fear the one who has authority over not just your body, but your soul.

In other words, and in that context Jesus is sending out his disciples on mission and he basically says to them
