This is CBS Island the World. I'm John Bachelor. South Africa,

much in the news recently to do with bringing charges of genocide against Israel

because we can believe there is some other motive.

South Africa has troubles enough for its own and to wander into the

international criminal court-making accusations seems at best a distraction

from the needs of the South African people and the conflict zones in and around the world.

Ord Kittree of the Foundation for Defense of Democracy joins, recently a column at the hill about this unusual decision by South

Africa given its problems.

Or in a very good evening to you, thank you, Professor.

I immediately thought when I read your column of this

action by South Africa, but then again, it occurred to me that Russia has been reaching out

to all of Africa to sign up countries in its persuasion because of the

war in Ukraine.

And so it's not too much of a leap to imagine that Russia is reaching out to sign up the S in

in bricks because of the war in Gaza. Or what else explains this odd decision?

My sense is that much of what South Africa's government

is doing right now is driven by corruption.

The South African government is profoundly corrupt.

There was a report in 2022 issued by the Chief Justice of South Africa, which, according to the BBC,
