So, yes, it was a very difficult journey, very difficult journey.

But that was our guiding force.

That was our lighting.

How can we depict this horror through beauty?

How can we go into the hardest, like the darkest part of humanity, this odyssey into the darkness?

Can we create a vehicle of hope?

And talking with the cinematographer, can we make the lighting a character?

Can we make everything more symbolical?

Can we remind the audience that they're watching a movie?

In this episode, a former government agent turned vigilante embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue children from sex traffickers, and director Alejandro

Monteverde's drama, Sound of Freedom. After rescuing a young boy from a trafficking ring,

a federal agent learns the boy's sister is still captive,

and decides to quit his job and embark on a dangerous mission deep in the Colombian jungle to save her.

In addition to Sound of Freedom, Monteverde's other directorial credits include the feature films,

Bella and Little Boy, and the shorts waiting for trains and Bacho.

Following a screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, Montverde spoke with director Alonso Alvarez Barretta about filming Sound of Freedom.
