Summary
Andrew and Megan chose Gettysburg for a quiet weekend.
They had been living in different states for months, meeting halfway whenever they could just to spend a little time together. Gettysburg felt like the perfect place—historic, quiet in the off-season, and far from the crowds that usually fill the town.
They spent the day walking the battlefield under a gray sky and joined one of the town’s ghost tours that evening.
Nothing strange happened. By the time they returned to their small hotel, it seemed clear that Gettysburg had decided to keep its stories to itself.
Then, sometime after midnight, Andrew woke to a faint tapping sound moving slowly down the hallway outside their room.
It passed several doors. And then it stopped.
