Summary

He hadn’t been looking for anything when he stopped.

The shop was just another place filled with old things, most of them easy to pass without a second thought. But one small box caught his attention just long enough that he picked it up, bought it, and took it home without thinking much about it afterward.

At first, it didn’t seem like anything. It sat where he left it, blending into the house the same way everything else did. Nothing stood out, nothing felt out of place, and there was no reason to question bringing it home.

Until things started to shift. Not in obvious ways, and not all at once, but enough that it became harder to ignore. And once it did, it didn’t take long to realize the problem wasn’t the box itself—it was whatever came with it.
