In 1969, 15-year-old John McCabe was last seen alive attending a Knights of Columbus dance in Lowell, Massachusetts.

His bound and strangled body was found in an abandoned lot the next day.

The ensuing investigation would last over 40 years and turned childhood friends into bitter enemies.

John got to the dance, but he never came home.

For many years, finding out what happened to John was a mystery.

The case had gone cold. The McCabe family never gave up. They wanted answers.

The DA called us and said each one of them was arrested.

And it felt as though finally some justice would be served. 1969 was a seminal year in American history.

Richard Nixon had been voted into office as the 37th president and while the

United States government was embroiled in a war abroad, Americans were fighting

with each other at home. In the midst of all of this upheaval, a 15-year-old boy named John

McCabe's biggest challenge was attending his first high school dance. What

followed was a mystery spanning over 40 years that left the McCabe family

and many people in the town of Tewkesbury, Massachusetts
