Summary

I am “Nana” aka Grandma Raani, depending on who you ask, but I’m the MOTHER of my own children! In this whole-house cleaning talk through, I discuss again the rudeness of people assuming that I’m my kids’ grandma. Yes, I’ve ranted about this subject before. Special thanks to long-time listener, Anne O, for understanding how I feel when people automatically make that assumption! I also share an idea submitted by Anne about how to leave out your ingredients for tonight’s dinner without making your kitchen look messy. As I talk you through cleaning the entire house, I reveal some solutions I found to some everyday household dilemmas. Is your carpet wearing out in places? Is your video gaming area attracting clutter? Find out what I did about these problems and more!

Hi everyone, Ronnie here. You're listening to Clean with me, the podcast where I talk you through,

0:11.3

cleaning your house. Thanks for joining me. This is episode 68. In case you're new to this podcast, my goal with the show is for you to be

0:24.3

able to press play, clean along with the episode, and just know that by the end of the hour,

0:30.7

your whole house is going to be in a lot better shape. So the first thing I'm going to suggest that you do today is either start a load of

0:41.4

laundry or straighten up the front entrance area of your home. Now, maybe you do one load of

0:49.2

laundry per day or maybe you have a real cluttered front entrance area so you decide what needs to be done

0:58.0

or maybe you can do both. It's only going to take you a minute or two to start a load in the

1:04.5

washing machine. So maybe you can also kind of just pick up that immediate entrance area of your home.

1:13.4

Another thing that I sometimes talk about during kind of just pick up that immediate entrance area of your home. Another thing that I sometimes talk about during kind of the introduction where you're gearing up for the cleaning session is the

1:19.6

fact that if you look good, you feel good. Studies show that people who work from home that actually

1:26.3

get dressed for the day are more productive than

1:29.9

those who kind of stumble out of bed and work in their pajamas. So obviously that same principle

1:35.6

can be applied to doing your housework. Years ago, I worked at a job that was part-time in the mornings.

1:46.4

So I would work four hours in the morning.

1:49.4

And then when I got home, I was, of course, already dressed and fixed up, shoes on and everything.

1:56.0

I'd eat lunch and then do some housework.

1:59.3

And I felt like I kept my house cleaner than when I'd been at home

2:08.1

before that. So I guess what I'm saying is there's something to be said for getting ready

2:13.9

early in the day. So I try to get up, have a cup of coffee, and freshen up and dress

2:21.2

for the day. I don't go around in my pajamas, unless I'm sick or something. And if you do that,

2:27.1

that's fine. Maybe you're good at cleaning in your pajamas. No judgment here. But it's just a

2:33.1

suggestion. My grandmother used to always say if you look good you feel
