And for the first time in 14 years, you get me solo today, which is fairly appropriate because of today's topic, the title of being solo sex.

So why not do the episode solo as well, pun intended here?

This is going to be based on an email that came in from a husband who is often separate

from his wife because of active service in the military.

And I'm solo today because I am separate from my wife as she is traveling for the couple

days surrounding the recording of this episode to take care of some

time with family. And so it's just me. And so here's the email. I wanted to write in because I'm

wrestling with something that I imagine a lot of others might quietly relate to. And that's how

hard it is to talk about sex, masturbation, and intimacy in marriage.

I'm an active service, so thanks again for your service, sir, so I'm away from home often.

And honestly, it bothers me that I don't really know how or if my wife takes care of her sexual needs when I'm gone.

In the past, I've asked, like when I was deployed overseas, if she'd send me pictures.

And while she did a couple of times, it felt like pulling teeth.

She clearly wasn't comfortable with it.

And even though I tried to reassure her that I love the way she looks and that I want her in that way.

So now I find myself wondering, how do you even bring up something like masturbation with your spouse?

Is it okay to ask if she does it while I'm away? And on top of that, I'm dealing with some challenges around

sexual performance. I looked into testosterone therapy, but the doctor prescribed Viagra instead.

And the truth is, sex only really happens to get when we're together into my wife's in the right mood.

And by then, I'm often so anxious to get right to it and to get it right that I often lose

my erection too fast and I feel deeply embarrassed. So here I am wondering, why is this so hard
