So like many people, I grew up playing sports and I was never a superstar athlete. I was always very blissfully average but my

experience is playing sports really shaped a lot of who I am today so I played soccer, I played volleyball, I ran track, I did cheer, and those experiences playing

those sports cemented so many things in me that I still use now as an adult. Things like being a part of a team, learning how to

take direction, appreciating fitness, body awareness, and those are things that were

really ingrained in me from a young age

from participating in those sports.

And even when I was a personal trainer in my 20s,

I could always tell when I was training a client

who had experience playing sports as a kid.

Similarly, their body awareness was just so much higher.

They were able to kind of lock in,

even if they weren't necessarily in shape when we started,

they were always able to lock back in and tap into something mentally

that helped them just be a lot more grounded in what they were doing. They were a lot more

coachable. It was a lot easier to direct them to do things and it really got me thinking about how important it is that one we get those experiences when we're young but two having the mentality of an athlete as we age.

This is something that I've been thinking about a lot lately for a couple of reasons.
