Hey welcome to the Tuesday live stream. My name's Pastor Mikeinger. My name is not pastor. You could just call me Mike.

But this is, we're approaching Halloween's coming, right? And that a lot of people don't know is the anniversary of the beginning of the

reformation because that was the day when Martin Luther nailed the 95

thesis to the church door in Vittenberg and I don't plan on giving you a history

lesson but it seemed like a nice opportunity opportunity as this day approaches to talk about Sola Scriptura.

Sola Scriptura was like a real central theme in the Reformation.

The Reformation was basically my perspective on it as someone who's not a Catholic would be to say the

Reformation was basically the church saying hey we want what the Bible teaches and we think there's been a lot of traditions of men and authorities foreign authorities trying to be foisted upon us and we want to go right back to scripture right back to the authority and that's what solace scriptura is. means only the Bible so I'm going to give you guys a brief definition and defense brief not even the thorough defense a brief defense for people who are new to the idea of Sola Scriptura and you want to understand how it works.

And this is of course why when we do Q&A I'm asking what does the Bible teach about this stuff,

not what does Mike teach with his authority, but what does

scripture say? So what does solas scriptura mean?

Solas scriptura in a nutshell, it is saying that scripture, scripture, we have these books in the Bible we call scripture, these

writings that are from God, divinely inspired, that this alone, scripture alone is the final

authority for Christians on what they believe and how they live.

So their beliefs and their practices, faith and practices, a fancy way to put it.

The scripture alone is the final authority on those things.

That's the simple idea of scripture alone.

So this kind of rejects other authorities that might be coming in saying,

no, no, no, no, I'm equal with scripture or I'm higher than scripture, either one of those and we say no now when it comes to

Christian faith and practice it's the Bible that we look to so I need to already
