Yale's Sterling Professor of Social and Natural Science,

Nicholas, please tell us about your latest effort in bringing science to the public attention.

Well, we launched a few months ago.

We launched this vlog called For the Love of Science, where we

release weekly short videos about science. But it was prompted by some concerns that I think

you and I share on a kind of rising tide of unreason around the world, a kind of rise in authoritarianism,

a kind of, you know, loss of public confidence in science,

and a failure of scientists to imaginatively attempt to advance the public understanding of science.

So I think science is a hallmark of our civilization.

I think scientific advances are at the root of our health, our wealth, and our security. And I think to the extent that people don't understand how science works, what science has done for us and what it can do for us, it's a problem for us. So in a small way, I'm a working scientist, but I thought I would try to make a contribution

in this regard to help advance the public understanding of science. I, of course, publish
