What exactly does it take to run for a political office?

The biggest obstacle that I see is the ability to even access the ballot.

Joining me today to talk about this issue is independent 2028 presidential candidate Diane

Sare.

Diane has some experience with this because she has run for New York State Senate seat.

And I wanted to get her opinion as to what that process looks like and even to look further

into what it is going to be for her to become a candidate listed

on the 2028 presidential election ballot.

The primaries are underway right now.

We have midterm elections coming up in November.

So I think this is a really great time to get people thinking about this system that we currently have set up.

And some of the major obstacles to ballot access are as

follows. The biggest one is the signature requirements. States often require thousands and

sometimes even tens of thousands of signatures. Many signatures, even though they are gathered,

are often thrown out, in other words, considered invalid because of several reasons, including

the voter is not registered correctly, The address does not match voter rolls.
