Good morning. Three minutes after ten is the time. You know, I was going to begin the show this morning

by saying, I've said it before and I'll say it again. But that wouldn't exactly narrow things

down, would it if you listen on an even vaguely regular basis? So I will resist that urge and

simply say it. If they can turn you against firefighters, they can turn you against anybody.

And as has been grimly predicted by many, many, many people,

it seems to be the turn of GPs and doctors at the moment.

No matter that the profession is warning in a report,

in a statement by six separate medical bodies,

that their members are facing a growing tide of abuse from patients.

They say that this is the frustration caused by long waits for care.

Long waits for care that are a direct consequence of political decisions taken over the

course of the last 11 years.

But you don't need to be Nostradamus to predict

that the people who cheered those 11 years of decisions taken over the last 11 years

will be at the very front of the queue of those trying to blame doctors for shortages in the NHS.

And how quick, I mean, I'll give you two headlines, two front pages today,

which in many ways sum up, not just this story and this problem, this issue, but also this country,

actually, and the way we are in thrall still to the worst kind of provocations, the invitation

just to hate each other all the time.

Who are you going to get angry with today? Civil servants or doctors. Yeah. Prime Minister's on

holiday. Give him a free pass. Actually, I think we probably should resist the urge to get unduly

exercised by Boris Johnson's holiday for the very simple reason that I don't think he does much when he's here.
