Summary
Welcome to the "Saturday Morning Golf Stat" from the Hack it Out Golf Podcast. Being in the fairway is better than being in the rough—but by how much? In this episode, Lou asks Greg and Mark how close in the rough golfers of differing skills levels would need to be to average the same number of shots to hole out as they do from 200 in the fairway. The answers might surprise you; they certainly surprised Greg and Mark.
Each of these will be a mini-episode (10-15 minutes long) about an interesting golf stat. We will discuss what you can learn, and most importantly, how you can apply this on the golf course to lower your scores and lower your handicap.
Listen on your drive to the golf course or over your Saturday morning coffee!

| 0:11.6 | I'm not feeling great to be fair. |
| 0:14.6 | I can only use that as an excuse because to be, I get it wrong quite a lot. |
| 0:19.2 | But Lou, ask the question where everyone will just |
| 0:22.1 | understand it straight away and then now think what does he not understand about that question |
| 0:26.6 | all right so what is it from 200 yards in the fairway you are going to average a certain number of |
| 0:32.3 | shots to get the ball in the hole from what distance in the rough will you average the same |
| 0:37.2 | number of shots as you will from |
| 0:39.1 | 200 yards in the fairway? And this question is going to be for a scratch, a 10, and a 20. So you'll be |
| 0:46.8 | giving me a yardage from the rough for each one of those. And again, what yardage in the rough is going to |
| 0:53.1 | equal 200 yards in the fairway from the average number of shots to get down? |
| 0:59.0 | Scratch, 10 and 20. |
| 1:01.4 | And for some, like in some incredible way, Mark somehow won the last one. |
| 1:06.5 | And based after him trying to understand this question, I don't know how he wins any of these. |
| 1:12.1 | Dude, I want our listeners to understand what I just went through off there. |
| 1:15.8 | Like, I had to explain this to Mark. |
| 1:18.8 | Like, I literally, I think I pulled crayons. |
| 1:22.1 | At one point, I think I had an abacus. |
| 1:25.1 | Like, and I actually said the phrase, if you say, if you don't say a distance and you say 28 |
| 1:30.2 | percent, I'm going to jump through this screen and strangle you myself. |
