Summary

Today on the HowToBBQRight Podcast, Tyler is BACK from his trip down to Texas (00:14), and he went on a mini BBQ crawl through San Antonio and Austin (03:44)! After months and months of waiting, Malcom FINALLY fired up the grill and cooked that camel tenderloin (16:01). Looking for a new grill to add to your arsenal? Primo Ceramic Grills has you covered (25:56)! I finally got Malcom to wear maroon in Starkville for Mother’s Day, and it looks like some of y’all caught us on camera (26:40). Malcom has been thinking about trying Hot Boiled Peanuts on his smoker (33:54). Shoutout to everyone who’s competing in both Memphis in May and Smoke Slam, this weekend (39:18). The Palmer Home is hosting their annual Skeet Shootout, and we’re catering the WHOLE THING (43:09). I want to know if Malcom would do his take on Trash Can Baked Beans (46:18). If you’re looking to take your cracker sandwiches to the next level, try wrapping those bad boys in bacon and throwing them on the smoker (51:01)! When it comes to brisket, is trimming REALLY necessary (52:34)? Weber came out with a new USA style grill, and I’m ordering one right now (56:31)! If you’ve got a whole pork loin you need to whip up, here’s Malcom’s FAVORITE ways to cook em (59:01). We’ve all had Mississippi Pot Roast before, but what are some of the OTHER uses for a whole chuck roast (1:01:39)?

It was amazing, man.

Like, the culture down there is awesome.

0:36.8

The food is unbelievable. Like, obviously, some of the best barbecue you can eat is down there. So when you say down there, what part of Texas are you talking about? We were in San Antonio, but we really drove most of it, you know, like at least right along the kind of outer sides of it. So we went through Dallas and Austin and didn't make it to Houston. She got through Waco? We went through Waco. Didn't stop anywhere in there. My wife, your wife didn't make you stop it. Who is it? Joanna, yeah. She was asleep. Luckily, on the ride there, on the way back, it was just pouring rain the whole time. She must not have known. She know they were in Waco.

1:11.9

Yeah.

1:12.3

No, she wanted to, but luckily, like I said, she was asleep. And on the way back, it was just torrential downpouring, but. They've got like a complex there. Like, it's a whole little area of that town that's all magnolia. We were driving through it. And all I could think was, I was like, those people put, they must have put this on the map.

1:10.1

I mean, maybe it was something before.

1:11.4

I think, Kresi did.

1:31.7

Yeah.

1:33.8

That's the first thing I heard about, like, oh, this is funny. When I was a kid, I remember, you know, how you family, or my dad would always take us on these family vacation trips. And I think my granny Papa was with us. And they had one of those big conversion vans. This was what my mom had. And so we loaded up the family and went on a Texas vacation. And we had to go see J.R.'s house in Dallas. We had to go. And Waco was on the way. That's how I knew. And that's why we were there. This had to be, I don't know, was that not late 80s maybe when the Koresh stuff? Oh, no, it's more like mid-90. Well, whenever it was, we had been through there. And that's always remember that. And then we went to like San Antonio and did the Alamo. Did you see the Alamo? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. We did SeaWorld and we went down to like, we crossed the border and, oh, this is, you wouldn't do this now. And like Nuevo Laredo, man, that's one of the most dangerous places on the border now. 93. Was that 90? Oh, yeah. Okay. That was when that was. So we were probably there. And I had, I thought I was probably seventh, eighth grade. So that had to be late 80s.
