So about a year after I graduated from Texas A&M, I took a group of high school students to Young Life's Wilderness Ranch.

And we went backpacking for about a week in the mountains of Colorado.

And I will never forget this time in the midst of our backpacking journey where our guides got us lost. Like we lost the trail

and we just found ourselves in this open space in the middle of the mountains of Colorado. And so

our guides get out the map and they're trying to figure out where we're supposed to be. And so they

decide that we need to make our way kind of down this steep mountain side to this lake

that's at the bottom of it.

And so we begin to traverse our way down this steep mountain side because it's not the type of

thing that you can just kind of hike straight down.

You kind of got to go back and forth because of the steep nature of it.

And we are making our way down the steep mountainside,

and then all of a sudden it just begins to pelt us with hail.

And so here we are in the middle of nowhere,

and this wide open mountainside getting pelted with hail,

and what was supposed to be this very organized descent down the

steep mountainside quickly turned to chaos.

And all these high school guys, it was just kind of like every man for himself.

And so every guy in that moment decided what he felt was the best way to get down to this lake.

And so one guy just figured the fastest way
