Well, several years ago, I was a student ministry pastor in Austin, Texas, which means that I spent about five and a half years of my life working with high school and middle school students.

And I will never forget, we planned this in-town weekend retreat, and we took all of these middle and high school students to this ice skating ring so that we

could play broomball which is just like an accident waiting to happen someone always fractures a wrist

when you're trying to run around in ice and just in shoes and there was this moment where I was just

standing there uh I guess watching what was happening,

and without realizing it, there was this high school girl

that throughout the night had just been accumulating ice.

Like she spent a lot of her time just on the ground,

kind of moving ice together and packing it into a very compact ice ball.

And without me realizing it, she reared back with that ice ball,

and she chunked it at me as I was standing not looking her direction.

And she threw that thing as hard as she could,

and it smacked me right in the face

and my automatic reflex was to just bend over and cover my face in excruciating pain because this

wasn't a snowball people this was an ice compacted ball.

Those things hurt.

And so I curled over in pain.

And all I could think of that moment was cuss words.

Like those were the only things that filled my mind.
