| 0:00.0 | This is CBS Eye in the World. I'm John Boucher with my colleague, Gene Marks, and we're |
| 0:09.4 | looking at small business. Small businesses, the business of America and health costs |
| 0:14.4 | are everything, but they're also a major piece of how you can attract and retain workers. |
| 0:20.2 | And Gene very carefully writes about this often, but now we come to the street reporting |
| 0:26.4 | about small and medium-sized employers converting to self-insured health plan. Is that going |
| 0:32.3 | to save a money, Jane? |
| 0:33.3 | Yeah, it is. So I've been talking about this recently, too, and I wrote about it months |

| 1:19.6 | small businesses because they've realized that there is good economics involved. A captive |
| 1:24.2 | insurance program, John, it's a separate entity that might have a thousand businesses |
| 1:29.8 | that belong to it. So you're in business with a bunch of other people, but that entity |
| 1:34.4 | is run by experienced people in the healthcare industry, and they're representing tens of |
| 1:39.2 | thousands of employees that are based on their members. They go out and they negotiate |
| 1:44.1 | and buy health insurance, and if you're a small business now, they figured out this formula |
| 1:49.1 | for self-insuring so that you're sharing the loss of so many other small and mid-sized |
